In its most recent financial conference call to shareholders, Apple revealed that it has gained 165 million subscribers over the past year. The number of subscribers is counted across all the services for consumers that Apple offers, including iCloud, Music, Arcade as well as Apple TV+. Apple Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President Luca Maestri said the growth was all over the world.
We broke records in the December quarter across all geographic segments […] and, as I said earlier an all-time record was set for iCloud, Video, Music and advertising payment devices. Apple currently has 785 million subscribers who are paid and the company has added an additional 165 million customers in the last twelve months.

In the same conference in which Apple was asked about its involvement in the metaverse, Tim Cook’s answer was that Apple is interested in the metaverse and has already made investments in its commitment to AR. However, he didn’t make reference to the term “metaverse” when he made his answer. “We’re an organization that is focused on innovating,” Cook says. Cook. “we have more than 14,000 AR apps available on the App Store”.
Cook said that Apple sees a huge potential for the metaverse area and that it is “investing in the right direction”. Apple has been a long-time participant in AR following the addition of LiDAR technology on the iPhone 12 Pro and more recent iPad Pro models.
